PALEO DIET PRINCIPLES

Paleo Diet Principles offer a remarkable return to health and potentially significant weight loss, especially if you have been consuming a modern processed diet and are overweight – this is two thirds of western society! Following Paleo principles, people experience not only overall weight loss but also reduced stomach fat in particular, reduced joint and muscle pain, better sleep at night, more stable energy levels, and a myriad of other benefits.

The Paleo diet consists of a high intake of plant based foods which provide us with a high fibre and net alkaline diet. The diet optimises our consumption of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phyto nutrients.

Paleo refers to the paleolithic period in history, a prehistoric era where early humans (hunter gatherers) resided. This period extends from approximately 2.5 million years ago through to 20,000 years ago. An ENORMOUS period of time. The Paleo diet principles are based on foods that were consumed by our hunter gatherer ancestors and that science and personal experience indicates we are best adapted to consume.

A moderate amount of nutritious fats are included in the diet – Yes Fats! Trans fats are eliminated from the diet and polyunsaturated fats are minimised with a balanced ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fats. This combination of nutrients is the approximate diet followed by our ancestors for the longest period in history – OBESITY was unknown throughout this era.

A TYPICAL DAY

PLEASE NOTE – This is a typical day at our retreat, no two days will be the same. We understand that everyone is different and while some guests will participate in everything, others are free to participate in those activities that appeal to them.

7 – 8am  Magic coffee and daily meeting

8 – 10am  Power walk at island locations with beach swim 4-5 days

11 – 12pm  Aqua fitness or sauna

12 – 1pm  Lunch

1 – 3pm  Personal time

3 – 4pm  Exercise class eg, yoga/muay thai

4.15 – 5.15pm  Educational seminar or cooking demo

6 – 6.30pm  Dinner

6.45 – 7.45pm  Meditation or tai chi
