Anti-aging and weight loss: your secret (free) weapon!
How many of us wake up in the morning and prepare for our day? From deciding what to eat and drink to planning what to wear. If we know that our mornings tend to leave us in a chaotic spin, we may even start preparing the night before. Why? Because we know that planning and organising is key.
But how many of us wake up in the morning and prepare to sleep?
Now before you file that question under the ‘too crazy to consider’ pile, consider this: what if sleep was THE most important thing in our quest for health? What if without sleep, our bodies would be helpless against invading microbes and what if one of the gifts of sleep deprivation was that we aged much quicker? Lets not even mention what happens if you suffer with regular insomnia...
The truth is that sleep IS all these things and so much more. It has the capacity to make things two fold better, or two fold worse and is a known contributing factor to many health conditions.
Simply put, sleep is where the magic happens.
Lets have a think about all those heavy weights you lifted today. Or that yoga class you sweated through. It’s during anabolic sleep that your muscles will build. No sleep, no optimal muscle growth.
How about all that deliciously tasty and nutritious food you prepared for yourself and your family today? Most of the food we eat is assimilated and eliminated whilst we sleep.
‘That’s great!’ I hear you say ‘I fall asleep so easily whilst watching TV or being on my laptop!’. Sadly all sleep is not equal but there are ways to hack our way to the best sleep of our lives.
If Apple sold you a product and told you it worked only 50% of the time, you wouldn’t buy it. But that’s what we buy into health-wise when we do not optimise our sleep.
