Our Top 15 Favorite Superfoods That Are Also Super Delicious
It feels like every month, a new superfood is popping up into the mainstream. We’ve lived through the acai bowl craze and the goji berry bonanza, and now it’s all about beetroot. These foods all have nutritious elements, worth researching and learning about, to be sure. But you sure can’t expect to eat a regular, highly processed diet most of the time with a few of these sprinkled on top, then hope for magical weight loss results.
We’re not into promoting fad foods – we’re promoting stuff humans have eaten forever that have worked well for our metabolisms and digestive systems over thousands of years.
So what are the time tested best superfoods of all time that we should consider to be staples? It won’t surprise you that these are all on the paleo diet list.
The truth of the matter is: organ meats and herbs are the most nutritious foods on the planet! But no one wants to eat just organ meats covered in herbs every day. So here’s our top 15 list of our other favorite foods, which you will definitely see rotating through our delicious menu during your stay.
Some of these you will see more often than not on the paleo menu, but they can all be prepared in various delicious ways so you don’t have to compromise flavor for nutritional benefit.
Organ meats (liver stores tons of nutrients, and if you dare, heart and kidney too)
Herbs (we love cinnamon, cilantro, cayenne, rosemary, ginger, garlic, etc.)
Wild salmon (and white fishes like snow fish and halibut)
Grass fed beef (and lamb) in all its forms: ribeye, filet mignon, ground chuck, so forth
Avocados
Coconuts
Bone broth
Fermented veggies, like cabbage sauerkraut
Broccoli and cauliflower
Seaweed
Pastured eggs (chicken or duck)
Ghee or grass-fed butter (some people tolerate ghee better than butter)
MCT Oil (coconut oil extract of the most important fatty acids, and the most filling part)
Coffee (large source of antioxidants, and if you don’t like it, then green tea or matcha!)
Pink salt or sea salt (great for keeping you hydrated while you flush out toxins)
